The Akita needs very little care. He has called a "double" fell, stock hair like many other Nordic, which consists of soft, dense Undercoat and the longer, slightly protruding top coat. The coat does not tangle and need not be brushed out the shedding. However, he sheds twice a year off and it gradually loses his entire Undercoat and the outer coat. This vacuum cleaner at feet and daily brushing means for the owner.
